Skills you'll hire for in 2015:
All of our IT team growth this year is taking place in roles that are customer-facing, in our case end customers or suppliers. Mobility and customer portal development are great examples. Because our IT organization is so flat, we're looking to hire fresh talent rather than retrain.
The most important task you've delegated this year:
Lehigh Hanson and our global parent company are planning the divestiture of a $1 billion business in the next six months, and that divestiture needs to have its own stand-alone ERP system. So I asked my second-in-command to handle that process end to end. That project will involve working with all the key stakeholders to select the software and drive consensus.
Career highlight:
I never had a passport before being sent to Europe early in my career to handle a multimillion-dollar integration for a nearly $1 billion company. Working from Germany, I successfully integrated 22 systems in just nine months. It was an amazing experience and opportunity.
