- I'd like to minimize the reviews and approvals required for tasks, other than those needed for statutory and compliance needs. The CIO should be part of the team and engaged so that reviews aren't required.

- IT security and risk -- we're hiring external talent to get different views and perspectives, and we're retooling existing teams.

- CIO approval is no longer required for project tollgates up to a defined spending threshold. Ninety-five percent of purchase requests don't come to the CIO, but are delegated to staff.
