- New titles in your IT organization:
- We have created a Chief Data Office, led by individuals who report to both the CIO and CMO and are in charge of empowering Dell business leaders to make decisions with best-in-class analytical processes, innovative technologies and common information assets.
- A career highlight:
- I spent six years working in the manufacturing and supply chain business. The best IT training I ever had wasn't working in IT, but working in the business. That afforded me a 360-degree perspective that I was able to bring back to IT and drive better results.
- How do you evaluate emerging technologies?
- At Dell we have an innovation and incubation team tasked with investigating emerging technologies. They examine ideas that come through internal think tanks and social feeds and make recommendations on what sort of technologies we can be investing in to drive business results.
- How are you building an IT department for the future?
- By making sure our colleagues-- whether it be the marketing or product teams-- understand that we are a driver of business value, not a cost center. We view ourselves as part of the business, not just enabling the business.
