Stephanie L. Reel, 2013 Honoree

Senior vice president and CIO
Johns Hopkins Health System
A career highlight:
We are in the Smithsonian. The JHH Electronic Patient Record, developed by our team in 1995, was selected to become part of the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection of IT Innovation, housed at the National Museum of American History. We won a Computerworld Smithsonian Award based on use of 'information technology to create strides toward remarkable social improvement in business.'
Coolest current project:
The transformation of healthcare will require that we blur the lines between our research, our education and our patient care. It will require that we create permeable membranes that allow big data to be aggregated, shared, analyzed and used in data-driven decision-making and evidence-based medicine.
