What characteristic is most important to you in an IT hire?
The ability to build trust with key stakeholders and communicate effectively. In my experience, trust is formed through the simple act of making promises and keeping promises. Effective communication requires making certain that you bring people together toward common objectives.
What's the most important task you've delegated this year?
I have delegated a significant portion of our data center transition to one of my direct reports. This executive is doing a fantastic job managing a very complex transition involving strategic suppliers and balancing operational, financial, human resources, technology and risk management interdependencies. This has enabled me to focus more of my time and energy on transformational and innovative programs.
