At this Dallas-based bank holding company, which has about 460 branches, the IT employees don't sit idle. The Information Services Activity Committee is made up of employees who volunteer to host a variety of events throughout the year for IT staffers, with a focus on supporting the community through charitable giving. Examples of events held during 2010 were a chili cook-off, casual days, Comerica's Got Talent, an executive car wash, an ice cream social, a Halloween party and an annual summer event that incorporates food, entertainment and fundraising. Additional fundraisers support United Way and the Black United Fund. An internal website lets employees seek volunteer opportunities and track their volunteer time. In 2010, the IT group recorded 17,871 community service hours. Choice jobs The Comerica Alternative Work Arrangement program includes the choice of telecommuting, working flex hours, job sharing or scheduling a compressed workweek. In 2010, approximately 35% of employees had a formal work arrangement under the program. An annual "excellence bonus" rewards eligible participants who support the achievement of corporate performance targets. In 2010, the top 50% of employees were awarded an excellence bonus. The new CoStar recognition program was established to acknowledge employees for their assistance or efforts that went above and beyond their job duties and for demonstrating Comerica's core values. Under the Transformation Recognition Program, each month employees are chosen for recognition in each senior manager area. Each quarter, one division winner is given a monetary award. In 2010, 1,300 awards were made within the IT department.
