IT team members get access to the latest technology -- and extensive training in how to use it. A new team within the technology group focuses on spurring the innovation and creativity of team members, identifying opportunities to create tools that benefit the business and quickly acting on those ideas. IT team members receive more than 40 hours per year of training directly related to their areas of expertise. The company also offers a multitude of other formal and informal training opportunities, including a peer-to-peer lunch-and-learn program. Uncovering leaders: IT employees are offered their choice of two unique programs: Ground School or Flight Training, both of which focus on leadership ability and career path decisions. Ground School is a three-month program designed to develop eight leadership skills: vision, adaptability, presence, communication, culture, personal growth, developing others and deep thinking. Flight Training is an in-depth, five-month program for new and existing leaders. Its goal is to improve students' team development capabilities, focusing on areas such as coaching, providing feedback, interviewing and public speaking. In 2009, the company gave IT workers raises as well as two bonuses. The average raise was approximately 6%, and each bonus was nearly 15% of an employee's gross salary.
