Free payroll software for startups

The manual handling of payroll can prove an extremely mundane task for both employers and employees, and is particularly daunting for startups and small businesses.

HR.myis a free, flexible payroll management system that allows organisations to easily track employee salary changes, whilst automatically generating monthly payslips for employees to access.

HR.my can be used by an unlimited number of users via its Employee Web Account. It also includes several other features that are often managed by the HR department such as employee portal, self-service, and attendance/ leave management and more.

The company says it is able to offer the service for free because it's crowdsourced by its users.

Xeroprovides a payroll software platform that can be used by small businesses and freelancers. It includes a range of bookkeeping and accounting features, as well as offering a real-time view of cashflow.

It enables employees to track their hours, whilst also providing the ability to manage and process pay. This includes flexible pay calendars, pensions filing, E-payslips and more.

The software also provides a Xero Me mobile app so employees have access to self-service features. It is available for iOS and Android.

Xero Payroll offers three months free for up to five employees and £1 a month for additional employees.

Quickbooksprovides a payroll solution as part of its small business accounting software.

It includes standard payroll features such as net pay, taxes and national insurance calculations, payslips and more.

Quickbooks also offers more advanced features such as pensions tracking, HR, and compliance information.

It provides a free 30-day trial and pricing is £1 a month per employee.
