Bigcommerce, PayPal team up for payments

Australian-founded ecommerce platform Bigcommerce now supports PayPal digital wallet online and mobile digital wallet payments in the US.

PayPal's One Touch for Web and mobile service has been rolled out to the firm’s US merchants.

This service will allow consumers to pay at Bigcommerce merchant online stores without needing to enter user IDs or passwords after their first login. International rollout of the service to all of Bigcommerce’s merchants is expected later in 2015.

The company has a total of 90,000 merchants worldwide.

Under the deal, Bigcommerce merchants also get access to built-in payment processing with support for all major credit and debit cards.

In addition, merchants can accept payments via a PayPal express checkout button. By clicking the button, customers login into their PayPal account, confirm pre-populated shipping and payment details on a PayPal-hosted page before being returned to the merchant's website to complete the transaction.

According to PayPal NextGen commerce and global merchant senior vice president Bill Ready, Billcommerce merchants will be able to open an online store in “minutes” rather than weeks by using One Touch for Web and mobile.

Earlier this month, Bigcommerce launched 'Bigcommerce Enterprise.’ The platform integrates real-time customer analytics, compliance with security standards including PCI, and support for integration with a range of ERP systems and other enterprise applications.

Customers using the hosted platform include Cetaphil, Enfamil, Gibson, Marvel, Pergo, Schwinn and Ubisoft.
