APX rolls out trading platform at Equinix Sydney

Asia Pacific Stock Exchange (APX) has launched a trading platform at Equinix’s Sydney data centre, SY1, so that its overseas customers can do business in the Australian market.

APX is a Sydney-based securities exchange that provides listing and trading facilities to stock brokers, traders and investors in the APAC region.

The new trading platform at SY1 will offer mainland Chinese customers an alternative listing venue to the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

The platform will be used to trade in shares issued by companies and units issued by trusts.

APX COO David Lawrence said the deployment in SY1 will provide the stock exchange with access to a larger electronic trading community.

“We are now in close proximity to key service providers, network operators and customers, which is critical to our business. Equinix’s financial ecosystem, coupled with its track record as a secure data centre infrastructure provider, makes the company a perfect deployment option for us,” he said in a statement.

Equinix recently announced that it had signed up 30 new customers in its Melbourne data centre, ME1.

These include cloud providers Bulletproof and Servers Australia as well as network provider Azzuri Communications. The companies have connected to Equinix’s cloud ecosystem in ME1.
