Suncorp NX deploys Nutanix to support Citrix VDI

Banking and insurance group Suncorp New Zealand has deployed Nutanix's Enterprise Cloud OS software to support its Citrix virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), enabling staff to work remotely.

Nutanix says its Enterprise Cloud OS "melds private, public and distributed cloud operating environments and provides a single point of control to manage IT infrastructure and applications at any scale."

It says companies use its Enterprise Cloud OS "to bring one-click application management and mobility across public, private and distributed edge clouds so they can run any application at any scale with a dramatically lower total cost of ownership."

Suncorp uses AWS to manage many applications and services central to its business, but chose to host its VDI services on-premises as they require more control over data and security and it wanted to minimise the risk of downtime.

To meeet growing demand for flexible working options by staff and job applicants Suncorp renovated its Auckland offices and implemented Nutanix to support flexible working and to help ensure the resources to enable staff to work remotely were available at all times.

According to Nutanix the new IT environment has improved workspace access, desktop resilience and availability and employee productivity.

This, Nutanix says, "is an important consideration for the company now that more staff are working remotely, and also given the amount of data and multitude of workloads it holds and manages."

Suncorp NZ is part of the ASX listed Suncorp Group and one of New Zealand's largest general insurance, banking, life insurance and pension payment organisations.
