Optus wins $115m DIBP ICT services contract

Optus Business has signed a $115 million, three year contract to supply IT and telecommunications services to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

The contract includes integrating the telco services of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection into the merged DIBP.

"Optus will be providing design and implementation support as the department optimises their telecommunications infrastructure, data centres, telephony platforms and their ICT needs moving forward," Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said in a statement.

The agreement includes support for some 15,000 IP handsets, 1000 wireless access points and 1000 LAN switches, as well as CCTV and radio, Optus said.
