Aptira strikes new international alliance

Australian OpenStack services and consulting firm Aptira has unveiled a new international partnership with NubeliU.

The Sydney-headquartered Aptira and NubeliU, which is based in S?o Paulo, Brazil, said the partnership will help deliver 24/7 support to organisations deploying OpenStack-based services.

The two firms will deliver customised OpenStack IaaS, PaaS and SaaS based offerings, as well as consulting and training.

“Service is our main focus, and by expanding across the globe and into new time zones, a large communication gap has been filled,” Aptira CEO Tristan Goode said.

“We are very excited to move forward with this partnership and to meet customer demand by providing 24 hour, seven days a week support,” said NubeliU CEO Rodrigo Benzaquen.

In October, Aptira announced strategic agreements with Akanda, developer of network orchestration platform Astara, and Cumulus Networks.

Internationally, OpenStack continues to grow, Goode said.

“We still seem to be getting new user groups around the world,” the Aptira CEO said, although community growth has slowed a little in Australia.

Selling businesses on the idea of using OpenStack has become easier, he added.

“It’s become a lot easier than in past years – you don’t have to explain to them what it is,” Goode said

“It’s now explaining to them more about where it fits, rather than starting at zero. We’re seeing banking and finance and the slower moving sectors now starting to move into it.”

The “classic journey” for OpenStack adoption remains starting with dev and test, Aptira COO Roland Chan said.

“A lot of large organisations are dipping in that way,” Chan said.

In Australia, telco is one of the most exciting sectors for OpenStack, he added.
