Comic Relief and Twitter team up with digital red noses

With Comic Relief's 'Do Something Funny for Money' campaign fast approaching, Twitter is getting in on the act.

Hundreds of people on Twitter, including comedian and Twitter cult leader Stephen Fry, have popped a digital red nose on their Twitter profile photo in support of Red Nose Day on Friday 13 March.

For a £1 donation, web users can upload an image of themselves and place one of three different-style red noses on the image.

You can also add the image to Facebook, MySpace and Bebo along with a message, which will hopefully encourage their friends to donate to the charity too.

Another novel way that Twitter has reached out to tickle the nation's funny bone in aid of the charity us by launching a new collection of comedy called TwitterTitters book, featuring comics Dave Spikey and Nat Coombs.


All proceeds from the book, which costs £4.99 to download or £9 in print, are to be donated to Red Nose Day by the creators of the project.

The TwitterTitters project, which was founded by Linda Jones and Louise Bolotin, set out to drive social change via Twitter, inviting comic writers to submit their work by using the social networking site to raise money for Comic Relief.

Comic Relief was born in 1985, and raises cash and funds projects throughout some of the world's poorest countries.
