Thames Water brings in Accenture to intelligently monitor systems

Accenture has been selected by Thames Water to provide new ways of integrating its business systems with its operations technologies.

Using analytics, the outsourcer will conduct an 18-month trial at various Thames Water sites, to test, monitor and assess the benefits of technology integration techniques as part of Thames' Smart Water project.

Thames Water says it wants the intelligent use of real-time data to monitor its assets, as an efficient way to deliver improved quality of service for customers.

Accenture analytics are intended to help create a single view of the utiity's operating systems and assets, such as pipe and treatment facilities. The information and data will help the utility anticipate equipment failures and respond in near real-time to critical situations, such as leaks or adverse weather events, Thames Water said.

Martin Dangerfield, head of asset strategy at Thames Water, said: “We are committed to improving the efficiency of our operations through more intelligent data insights. This pilot will provide us with a clear framework for the benefits that can be realised.”

Accenture will collaborate with Space-Time Insight and TIBCO Software to deliver the Smart Water pilot for Thames Water.
