MasterCard to open technology office in Dublin

MasterCard Worldwide has announced plans to open a new global technologies office in Dublin.

With support from regional development agency IDA Ireland, the expansion will create 130 highly skilled jobs over the next four years.

"At our core, MasterCard is a technology company that happens to be in the payments space. Our focus as a company is on offering innovative, game-changing technologies that offer mass appeal for our global customers and cardholders," said Rob Reeg, president of MasterCard Technologies.

The company has had an office in Dublin since it acquired technology company Orbiscom in 2008. Its R&D function, MasterCard Labs, is also based in the Dublin Office, which is also the company's Centre of Excellence for Java Development.

MasterCard's inControl platform team will also be based in the Dublin office. This product allows customers and cardholders to set custom controls on usage of their credit, debit and prepaid cards.

The company is recruiting for technology roles via its website,
