ISC2 issues 10,000th security certification in Europe

The ten-thousandth ISC2 security certification in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has been awarded.

Some 3,000 ISC2 security certifications have now been made in the UK, alongside 1,000 in Benelux and 700 in Germany, according to (ISC)2, a not-for-profit organisation.

Hitting this number represented “significant progress” in the aim of enhancing information security through training, (ISC)2 said. The awards offer “confidence”, it said, that certified staff are fully competent in information security, risk, and data governance.

Professor Howard A Schmidt, vice chair of the Board of Directors at (ISC)2 and president of the Information Security Forum, said: “In addition to protecting resources and brand value, security professionals are becoming recognised for their ability to protect revenue.”

The communities of (ISC)2 professionals in each country were regularly consulted by managers hiring security staff, as well as by public bodies, the organisation said. (ISC)2 networks meet regularly online and at educational events, and there are 130 exams around the world every year to allow security professionals to become qualified.
