If you remember when cellphones could fit easily in your pocket, you are probably dating yourself. Because phones have been getting increasingly bigger in recent years, much to the chagrin of some

If you are among the many who begrudgingly accept a larger phone because of its other features, you may be excited to hear about a Kickstarter for a small phone that has some pretty solid specs. But does it compare to what has become a normal-sized phone?

In IT Blogwatch, less is more.

So what is going on? Brittany A. Roston has some background:

Jelly is an Android smartphone with 4G network support. Neither of those two things make the phone notable...Rather it is the phone’s miniature 2.5-in. touchscreen display that...earns it the title of ‘world’s smallest’ 4G smartphone. This handset looks, at first glance, like a flip phone that is closed. It is far, far more than that, however.

Ok, it is tiny. What makes is special, though? Matthew Humphries has more info:

Jelly looks to be the opposite of everything companies including Apple, Samsung, and Google tell you is what a modern smartphone should be...the battery is removable, there's a microSD card slot, and it has dual SIM card support.
...
Jelly...[is] being offered through Kickstarter by Unihertz. With 34 days left to go, it's...fully-funded.

Let's get down into the nitty gritty. What are Jelly's specs? Liam Tung has those details:

Jelly...is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core CPU...features 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, and a 950mAh battery with an advertised three-day battery life with average usage.
...
It also features a two-megapixel front-facing camera and eight-megapixel rear camera, dual nano SIM cards, and a microSD expansion slot, while the TFT LCD display is at a 240 x 432 pixel resolution. The handset is...3.6 x 1.7 x 0.5 inches. It also has Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0...There's also a Jelly Pro version available.

Sounds like it can hold its own. Anything else important? Tasneem Akolawala fills in the blanks:

The Jelly Pro [has] 2GB RAM/16GB storage...Jelly...supports Android 7.0 Nougat...The two SIM-slots support 4G on AT&T and T-Mobile networks in the U.S...Onboard sensors include Gyroscope, G-Sensor, and Compass.
...
The Jelly doesn't look to compete with the Samsungs and Apples of the world. It looks to be a backup device, or your workout companion that you...take to places where you don't want your premium smartphone to go.

So how much does the phone cost? And when will it be available? Abner Li is in the know:

Both models comes in white, black, and blue, with a $109 retail price for the base model and $125 for the Pro...as part of the Kickstater, prices start at $59 and $75, respectively. Orders are expected to ship in August.

Anything else important? Everyone is talking about how this phone will fit in the coin pocket of your jeans, but Tony thinks it meets another important criteria:

Finally! A phone that fits in the cup holder! I'd buy it!
