For users sick and tired of being sick and tired of waiting for a new Windows Phone flagship, Daniel Rubino is a hero.

Now a Promethean figure in the eyes of die-hard Windows Phone fans, Rubino yesterday provided detailed information about two rumored flagships -- code named Cityman and Talkman -- leaked from the Olympian heights of Mount Microsoft.

Daniel Rubino sets the record straight:

Over the last few weeks, rumors of Microsoft's upcoming flagship Windows Phones have been circulating the internet. The referenced phones are codenamed Cityman and Talkman, and it is time to set the record straight on their specifications and features.

The first accurate reporting of Cityman and Talkman go back to April 17 when Blog Jack published exact information about the two devices.

Since then, I have been able to fill in the gaps and will complete most of the picture. However, like all leaks, some of this should be treated with caution as plans can change.  MORE

Though Microsoft execs called these phones "premium," rather than "flagship" phones when acknowledging their existence last week, if and when they come to market, they will be the most flagship-like Windows Phone devices Microsoft has fielded in a long while.  MORE


Tom Warren finds a few stocking stuffers:

Microsoft is preparing two new Lumia devices for the holiday season. [Both] devices will include an iris scanner to let you log into the phones with your face...part of the Windows Hello feature in Windows 10. Alongside the iris scanning, Microsoft is also reportedly bringing its Surface Pen technology to both of its upcoming Lumia handsets.  MORE


With his Unified Phone Theory, Cameron Faulkner explains how mobile and desktop are one and the same:

[It's] looking like [the new phone] specs could clue us into how Microsoft is planning to unify its mobile and desktop experiences in Windows 10 Mobile.

This front-facing camera's infrared functionality, if the rumors are true, could allow users to speed up the cumbersome process of signing into their devices.

Next up is Surface Pen...a feature that's at the heart of what makes using tablets like the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 a unique experience. In a move that would please business types, as well as artists and note-jotters, the [950 and 950 XL] could be stocked with support for the Surface Pen.  MORE

Both new Windows smartphones will support Microsoft Continuum, a feature that can turn them into PCs (in a way). To make use of Continuum, Microsoft will launch an optional docking station...codenamed Munchkin...allowing the phones to be connected [to a display, mouse and keyboard.]  MORE
