SAP to extend consulting arm in United States with Prescient acquisition

SAP HAS TAKEN a major step toward providing integrated, international systems integration support with the announcement Wednesday that SAP SI, a Dresden, Germany-based consulting firm, has agreed to acquire Atlanta-based Prescient Consulting.

The deal is worth $11.5 million and will extend SAP SI's SAP implementation services to U.S. customers.

The deal is the first step in a planned international expansion for SAP SI, which was created by the Walldorf, Germany-based SAP last year when it combined systems integration and consulting divisions.

Prescient Consulting is a SAP implementation partner and services partner specializing in SAP implementations, upgrade and support services, e-business solutions, and human resources and payroll applications.

In today's Internet-based collaboration market, with enterprises having supply chains spanning the globe, it is increasingly important for IT consulting organizations to meet customer needs with an integrated team in multiple countries, said Joerg Vandreier, member of the SAP SI board of directors.

The companies expect to close the deal during the first quarter of this year, and SAP SI will rename Prescient Consulting as SAP SI America.
