Yahoo CIO departs

Michael Kirwan is the latest executive to leave Yahoo

In another high-profile departure, Michael Kirwan, formerly CIO of Yahoo, has left the company.

The move was first reported by the AllThingsD blog on Thursday.

In a short note, Yahoo confirmed that Kirwan is no longer with the company. It said that David Dibble, executive vice president of service engineering and operations for Yahoo, will take on Kirwan's responsibilities. Dibble was Kirwan's manager, the company said.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kirwan started working for Yahoo in July 2009. His bio does not appear to be available anymore on Yahoo's website.

Other recent notable departures from Yahoo include Hilary Schneider, who ran the company's North American business, and David Ko, who was the head of Yahoo's audience group.

Yahoo has struggled to gain momentum after a failed takeover attempt by Microsoft last year and changes in leadership, including the replacement of Jerry Yang, who founded the company and had served as CEO. Yang now serves on the board.
