Content Tools To Fit the Task

Content Management Software

By 2004, 95% of Global 2,000 firms will roll out some sort of content management tool, according to a May 2002 study by Stamford, Conn.-based Meta Group Inc. Companies are looking to use the tools to exploit new and entrenched Web site technologies that enable e-commerce, document and file management, and the distribution of audio and visual content.

IT managers must decide whether they want to buy from a content management suite vendor or pick best-of-breed products. Their buying and implementation decisions will reflect their consideration of security, the indexing or cataloging of the content, and how the content is distributed.
