Express Scripts Inc., a St. Louis-based pharmacy benefits management company, knows the value of well-trained IT staffers and works hard to keep them. The company's retention rate last year was an impressive 96%.
So, why do IT workers stay there? Executives chalk it up to efforts to recruit and develop top talent, which include a senior manager talent infusion program, a summer internship program, and leadership job-rotation programs.
Suzi Kurtovic, a senior manager in data warehousing and reporting, came to the company through its leadership program and spent two years rotating through several assignments.
"We have amazing leaders within IT who are easily accessible and provide great guidance and direction," she says. "They're interested in our growth and provide mentorship."
