1.  We used Google Shopping to determine average street prices for Intel's Core processors. Prices for Intel Atom processors are taken from Intel's Web site and are per-unit if bought in 1,000-unit quantities; Intel does not provide pricing for all Atom processors. Via Technologies declined to provide per-unit pricing for its Nano chips.

2.  The 45nm fabrication process is a new chip-manufacturing technology that results in more energy-efficient CPUs than the older 65nm process (which is in turn more efficient than the still-older 90nm process). Intel began using the 45nm method for some of its processors in late 2007; Via currently offers no 45nm mobile CPUs.
