1.  Neither Intel nor AMD publishes per-unit prices for its CPUs, so we used Google Shopping to determine average street prices. Prices for these charts are current as of December 2008; however, processor prices are always subject to change and will drop over time.

2.  The 45nm fabrication process is a new chip-manufacturing technology that results in more energy-efficient CPUs than the older 65nm process (which is in turn more efficient than the still-older 90nm process). Intel began using the 45nm method for some of its processors in late 2007; AMD currently offers no 45nm mobile CPUs.
