Here's the top notebooks debuting at CES, in rough order of hotness

Everyone knew that this year's CES would be a coming-out party for tablets and ARM-based smartbooks. But what about those who still like a keyboard and Windows' buffet of apps? They're in luck, as laptops and netbooks showed that they are more than last decade's phenomenon.

Here's a roundup of the top gear debuting at CES, in rough order of hotness.

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 -- the 'mullet' of notebook computers?

The U1 is a consumer-grade Windows 7 laptop that also has a detachable 11.6-inch LCD touchscreen with its own ARM-powered slate computer. Lenovo calls it the laptop "with two brains," but the nickname another reporter gave it -- "the mullet of notebook computers: Business in the front, party in the back" -- sounds about right.
