First USB 3.0 flash drive has 10X the speed of previous drives

The SuperSpeed RAIDDrive offers up to 128GB capacity

Super Talent Technology today announced what it claimed is the industry's first USB 3.0 compliant flash drive, which can support data transfer rates of 5Gbit/sec -- 10 times faster than current USB 2.0 products.

Super Talent's SuperSpeed USB 3.0 RAIDDrive comes in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities.

Measuring 3.7 inches by 1.4 inches -- and a half inch thick -- the SuperSpeed drive plugs directly into any USB port and can deliver data transfer speeds up to 200MB/sec in USB 3.0 ports compared with 480Mbit/sec that USB 2.0 supports. The drive is fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, but it will operate at USB 2.0's slower I/O speeds.

Super Talent said it uses a special technology in the SuperSpeed drive that involves multiple RAID pairs containing differential serial data channels. When a system is equipped with both a special USB Attached SCSI (UAS) driver and USB 3.0 ports, the drive can achieve up to 200MB/sec transfer speeds.
