The following video, prepared by our colleagues in the IDG News Service in Japan and Boston, gives an overview of some emerging consumer technologies from the past year. A flexible version of Sony's OLED display has to be seen to be believed, and there's a pretty neat Sharp screen that can scan items as well as display them. There's also a demo of a super high-def television screen (four times the resolution of current HDTV) and a car that knows if you are drunk or tired.
Of course, this being Japan, there has to be a demonstration of the latest consumer robot technologies, and this video comes through with three different models -- including one that can do an impressive (yet impractical) trick.
Toward the end of the video, there's a recap of some Microsoft innovations, including the Milan table computer -- which will supposedly be ready for market in 2008.
