Energizer announces AA battery power pack for iPods

Energizer today announced the Energi To Go Portable Power For iPod (website not yet updated with product information), an external battery-based power source for fourth and fifth generation iPods (and presumably the most recent iPods as well) that works via a dock connector. External battery packs have been available from companies like Cellboost for some time. Unlike these earlier battery packs, which are essentially single-use batteries in a custom form factor, the Energi To Go is powered by two AA batteries. The device will also be able to double as a stand for watching video. The ability to power an iPod using regular batteries that can be easily and inexpensively replaced (Energizer recommends using their e² Lithium brand) is great news for travelers who want to watch video on a plane or similar location where there is no available power outlet. The product will retails for $29.99 and be available in drug stores, airport shops, and electronics stores this fall. Energizer already produces similar devices for a ranges of mobile phones.
