Get ready, Android fans: Google's Android 4.4 operating system -- a.k.a. KitKat -- is officially unwrapped and rolling out to the world.
KitKat introduces a handful of new visual touches along with loads of fresh features and under-the-hood functionality, ranging from a revamped Phone app with integrated search to a new Email app and system-wide cloud storage access. And, of course, there's plenty of polish added throughout the platform, too.
So how do you know if your phone or tablet will get KitKat -- and if so, when the upgrade will arrive? I've made it easy. This list has everything there is to know about the Android 4.4 upgrade, broken down by device. It'll be updated regularly as new details become available, so you can always check in to get the latest info for your phone or tablet.

These devices have been officially upgraded to Android 4.4 or are currently in the process of being upgraded. (Devices that shipped with Android 4.4 preinstalled are not included.)
• HTC Droid DNA [UPDATED 4/24/14]: HTC and Verizon started rolling out KitKat to the Droid DNA on April 24, 2014. HTC had previously stated that it planned to upgrade the Verizon-based Droid DNA device to Android 4.4 by the end of March, "pending certification from [the] carrier." On January 23, the company indicated it had reached the "certification" phase with the device, which is considered its final step before software is pushed out to customers; the full "technical approval," however, was evidently not achieved for another few months.
• HTC One [UPDATED 2/24/14]: HTC started the rollout of KitKat to the unlocked version of its HTC One phone in late November 2013 and began delivering the software to European models and Canadian models of the phone in late January 2014. In the U.S., meanwhile, KitKat became available to the Sprint HTC One on January 31 via a manual update and on February 11 with a full rollout. Verizon started rolling out the upgrade in phases on February 6. T-Mobile followed on February 21, and AT&T trailed behind a few days later on February 23. Last not not least, HTC announced availability of KitKat for One devices in the U.K. on February 24. HTC had originally promised that all of its One devices would receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade "within 90 days" from early November. The company later went onto specify that the rollouts should occur by the end of January 2014. On January 29th, the company posted a letter to customers stating that the carrier certification process was taking longer than expected and that it would "miss [its] self-imposed target by a small amount of time.
• HTC One Developer Edition: HTC made KitKat available for its HTC One Developer Edition on November 29, 2013.
• HTC One Dual Sim [UPDATED 2/18/14]: HTC announced the launch of KitKat for its One Dual Sim phone in India in mid-February.
• HTC One Google Play Edition: Google and HTC made KitKat available for the HTC One Google Play Edition on November 25, 2013.
• HTC One Max [UPDATED 4/8/14]: HTC announced the launch of KitKat for its One Max phone in India in mid-February. In the U.S., meanwhile, numerous users on Sprint reported receiving the upgrade in late March, and a rollout began for Verizon-based Max owners on April 7th. As for other carriers, HTC has confirmed that the Max is set to receive KitKat soon; the company initially said the upgrade should arrive for the device "as early as" March.
• HTC One Mini [UPDATED 3/26/14]: HTC announced the launch of KitKat for its One Mini phone in India in mid-February. On March 25, meanwhile, an HTC exec stated via Twitter that the AT&T version of the phone should start receiving its upgrade by the "end of the week" -- and sure enough, a day later, AT&T announced the start of the rollout. Back in November, HTC initially confirmed that the Mini was set to receive KitKat; the company later went onto say that the upgrade should arrive for the device "as early as" April.
• LG G2 [UPDATED 4/21/14]: According to user reports, some G2 devices in Korea started receiving KitKat in February of 2014. In the U.S., meanwhile, AT&T launched the rollout of Android 4.4 to its LG G2 device on February 23, T-Mobile followed with a rollout for its G2 starting on March 3, Sprint served up KitKat to its G2 on March 31, and Verizon trailed in behind with a rollout starting around April 18. In Canada, numerous users on Bell and Rogers reported receiving the upgrade in late March. And a video posted by LG's U.K. division suggests the upgrade will become available to handsets in that region "from mid-March." LG has yet to announce any details about when KitKat will reach the G2 in any other parts of the world (or when it will reach any of its other devices anywhere).
• LG G Flex [UPDATED 4/30/14]: AT&T announced the rollout of KitKat for its version of the LG G Flex on April 17, 2014. Sprint followed with a rollout of KitKat for its G Flex at the end of the same month. LG had not provided any info about the G Flex's upgrade schedule prior to then, nor has the company provided any info about upgrade plans for other carriers' and countries' versions of the device.
• LG G Pad 8.3 [UPDATED 4/30/14]: According to numerous user reports, LG made KitKat available to its G Pad 8.3 tablet in late April 2014. The software is said to be available only via a manual update with LG's PC-based software. LG has yet to announce anything official about the upgrade, and the company had provided no info about plans or a timeline for upgrading the device before.
• Motorola Droid Maxx [UPDATED 1/14/14]: Motorola and Verizon announced the launch of the Android 4.4 upgrade for the 2013-model Droid Maxx phone on December 19, 2013. The rollout began to reach the majority of users in mid-January 2014.
• Motorola Droid Mini [UPDATED 1/14/14]: Motorola and Verizon announced the launch of the Android 4.4 upgrade for the 2013-model Droid Mini phone on December 19, 2013. The rollout began to reach the majority of users in mid-January 2014.
• Motorola Droid Razr HD [UPDATED 5/12/14]: Motorola announced the rollout of KitKat to its Droid Razr HD phone on May 12, 2014. Moto has said the upgrade will take about a week to reach all users. Motorola had previously committed to upgrading the Droid Razr HD to Android 4.4 but had provided no firm time frame for the rollout until mid-April, when a company exec noted on Google+ that the software should become available within "a few more weeks."
• Motorola Droid Razr M [UPDATED 5/12/14]: Motorola announced the rollout of KitKat to its Droid Razr M phone on May 12, 2014. Moto has said the upgrade will take about a week to reach all users. Motorola had previously committed to upgrading the Droid Razr M to Android 4.4 but had provided no firm time frame for the rollout until mid-April, when a company exec noted on Google+ that the software should become available within "a few more weeks."
• Motorola Droid Ultra [UPDATED 1/14/14]: Motorola and Verizon announced the launch of the Android 4.4 upgrade for the 2013-model Droid Ultra phone on December 19, 2013. The rollout began to reach the majority of users in mid-January 2014.
• Motorola Moto G [UPDATED 2/18/14]: Motorola started the rollout of Android 4.4 to its Moto G phone on December 19, 2013. The software reached devices bought on Motorola.com or Amazon.com in the U.S. first; a rollout for U.K. versions of the phone followed about a month later, in January, as did a rollout for the Boost Mobile version of the phone. The Verizon-specific model received its upgrade in early February, meanwhile, while models of the phone in India were upgraded midway through the month. Motorola's Moto G KitKat rollout beats the company's original promise for the device: When announcing the Moto G, Moto initially said it "guaranteed" the phone would be upgraded to Android 4.4 "at the beginning of 2014." In interviews given after the phone's launch, company execs went on to say that certain models of the device would launch with KitKat preinstalled and that other versions would receive it by the end of January.
• Motorola Moto X [UPDATED 4/30/14]: Motorola delivered KitKat to its Moto X on November 19 starting with the Verizon model of the phone. A rollout to the T-Mobile model followed two days later on November 21 and a rollout to the AT&T model began one day after that. The U.S. Cellular model started seeing its upgrade on December 4, meanwhile, and numerous Sprint users reported receiving the software on their Moto X devices on December 12 with a full rollout following on the 18th. In early 2014, the company indicated that KitKat had begun rolling out to European models of the phone as well as Canadian models. And finally, in late April, the Republic Wireless version of the Moto X started to see KitKat arrive.
• Motorola Moto X Developer Edition: The Moto X Developer Edition received its KitKat upgrade in December of 2013.
• Nexus 4: Google started sending out KitKat to its LG-made Nexus 4 phone in late November 2013. Like most rollouts, the software is being delivered in waves, so it may take several weeks for it to reach all users.
• Nexus 7 (2012): Google officially announced the rollout of Android 4.4 to its Asus-made 2012 Nexus 7 tablet on November 12, 2013, although most users didn't begin receiving the software until later in the month.
• Nexus 7 (2013): Google officially announced the rollout of Android 4.4 to its Asus-made 2013 Nexus 7 tablet on November 12, 2013, although most users didn't begin receiving the software until later in the month. The rollout began with Wi-Fi-only models of the tablet and is expected to move onto the 4G version of the device from there.
• Nexus 10: Google officially announced the rollout of Android 4.4 to its Samsung-made Nexus 10 tablet in early November 2013, although most users didn't begin receiving the software until later in the month.
• Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition [UPDATED 4/30/14]: According to numerous user reports, Samsung started sending Android 4.4 to versions of its Note 10.1 2014 Edition in South America in mid-April 2014 and in numerous other countries later that same month. In late April, meanwhile, Verizon announced a rollout of KitKat for its version of the device. Back in mid-February, Samsung announced that it would upgrade the U.S. version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition to KitKat at some point "in the coming months." The company has provided no specific or official information since that time.
• Samsung Galaxy Note 3 [UPDATED 4/30/14]: In early 2014, Samsung sent a version of KitKat to a limited number of Note 3 devices in Eastern Europe and parts of Asia. On February 18, Samsung confirmed that it planned to upgrade the U.S. version of the Note 3 -- and on February 20, the upgrade started rolling out to some Note 3 users on Sprint as well as on U.S. Cellular. Note 3 users on T-Mobile, meanwhile, reported receiving the upgrade in early March, and AT&T announced its Note 3 KitKat upgrade at the end of that same month. Users in the U.K., meanwhile, started receiving the upgrade in mid-March. Samsung has yet to issue any specific information about plans for other carriers' or countries' versions of the device.
• Samsung Galaxy S III [UPDATED 5/1/14]: Sprint announced the release of KitKat for its Galaxy S III on May 1, 2014. Back in late February, Samsung had said it would upgrade the U.S. version of the phone to KitKat at some point "in the coming months" but had provided no more specific information. The company has still yet to disclose plans for any other carriers' or countries' versions of the device.
• Samsung Galaxy S4 [UPDATED 4/30/14]: On February 13, Sprint announced the start of the Android 4.4 upgrade for its Galaxy S4 device. U.S. Cellular announced availability of the upgrade for the GS4 on its network two days later; AT&T announced the start of its GS4 KitKat upgrade on February 26; T-Mobile announced availability for its GS4 on March 11; and Verizon finally started sending KitKat to its GS4 on April 25. The upgrade started reaching S4 owners in the U.K., meanwhile, in early March. Samsung confirmed its general plans to upgrade the U.S. versions of the phone on February 18 but never went on to provide any specific details about timing or about any plans for non-U.S. models.
• Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition: Google and Samsung made KitKat available for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition on November 25, 2013.
• Sony Xperia Tablet Z [UPDATED 5/21/14]: Sony announced the start of its KitKat rollout for the Xperia Tablet Z on May 21, 2014. Sony had initially said the Xperia Tablet Z would be in its first wave of devices to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade, but in mid-March, the company announced KitKat rollouts for a few other devices and said the Xperia Tablet Z would get its upgrade in the next wave, beginning in "mid Q2."

Android 4.4 Upgrade List: Devices Expected to Get KitKat
These devices have been confirmed by their manufacturers and/or carriers to be in line for an Android 4.4 upgrade.
• Archos 45 Helium [UPDATED 1/2/14]: When announcing its new 45 Helium phone in January, Archos confirmed that the device was "upgradable" to Android 4.4. The company didn't go into detail, however, about precisely when the upgrade would be made available.

• Asus PadFone 2 [UPDATED 2/27/14]: In late February 2014, Asus announced it would upgrade its PadFone 2 to KitKat. The company says it'll have the upgrade ready by the end of the second quarter of the year.
• Asus PadFone A80 [UPDATED 2/27/14]: In late February 2014, Asus announced it would upgrade its European PadFone A80 to KitKat. The company says it'll have the upgrade ready by the end of the second quarter of the year.
• Asus PadFone Infinity [UPDATED 2/27/14]: In late February 2014, Asus announced it would upgrade its PadFone Infinity to KitKat. The company says it'll have the upgrade ready for models of the phone in Asia and Russia by the end of the second quarter of the year and for all "new PadFone Infinity devices" sometime in the third quarter.
• Asus PadFone Mini [UPDATED 1/6/14]: When announcing its new PadFone Mini at CES in January 2014, Asus promised the device would be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat sometime after its release. The company has yet to go into any specifics, however, about when the upgrade will occur.
• Asus ZenFone 4 [UPDATED 1/6/14]: When announcing its new ZenFone 4 at CES in January 2014, Asus promised the device would be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat sometime after its release. The company has yet to go into any specifics, however, about when the upgrade will occur.
• Asus ZenFone 5 [UPDATED 1/6/14]: When announcing its new ZenFone 5 at CES in January 2014, Asus promised the device would be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat sometime after its release. The company has yet to go into any specifics, however, about when the upgrade will occur.
• Asus ZenFone 6 [UPDATED 1/6/14]: When announcing its new ZenFone 6 at CES in January 2014, Asus promised the device would be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat sometime after its release. The company has yet to go into any specifics, however, about when the upgrade will occur.
• HTC Desire 601 [UPDATED 1/13/14]: HTC has indicated that it plans to upgrade its late-2013 Desire 601 device to KitKat. As of January 2014, the company says it's in the midst of integrating the updated software with the various carrier models of the phone. Thus far, no specific time frame has been given for when a rollout might occur.
• Huawei Ascend P6: Information posted by Huawei on the Chinese site Weibo.com indicates the manufacturer will skip Android 4.3 for its Ascend P6 device and bring the phone directly to Android 4.4. The company says the upgrade should occur by the end of January 2014.
• Motorola Atrix HD: According to Motorola's official software support site, the AT&T-based Atrix HD will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. The company has yet to release any specific details, however, about when the rollout will occur.
• Motorola Droid Razr HD Developer Edition: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Droid Razr HD Developer Edition will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. The company has yet to release any specific details about when the rollout will occur.
• Motorola Droid Razr M Developer Edition: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Droid Razr M Developer Edition will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. The company has yet to release any specific details about when the rollout will occur.

• Nvidia Shield [UPDATED 3/26/14]: In late March, Nvidia announced it would provide the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade to its Nvidia Shield gaming device starting on April 2.
• Samsung Galaxy Light [UPDATED 2/18/14]: On February 18, Samsung announced that it would upgrade the U.S. version of the Galaxy Light to KitKat at some point "in the coming months." • Sony Xperia T2 Ultra [UPDATED 5/21/14]: In mid-March, Sony announced that its Experia T2 Ultra would receive the KitKat upgrade. In late May, meanwhile, the company said the upgrade would begin "from July."
Android 4.4 Upgrade List: Devices That Definitely Won't Get KitKat
Manufacturers and/or carriers have outright confirmed that these devices will not be upgraded past their current OS level.
• Acer Android tablets (2012-2013): There may end up being a random exception, but an Acer spokesperson tells me "most current Acer Android tablets" will continue only to receive "maintenance updates on Jelly Bean" while the company works on "introducing new Android tablets based on KitKat in 2014."
• Galaxy Nexus: Google has confirmed its Samsung-made Galaxy Nexus phone will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. The company says the phone "falls outside of the 18-month update window when Google and others traditionally update devices."
• HTC One X [UPDATED 2/18/14]: HTC initially confirmed it would not update 2012's HTC One X phone past its current Android OS level. In mid-February, however, the company announced it was "actively exploring" ways to make the upgrade happen for the U.S. model of the device as a result of strong consumer demand. HTC also said the lack of support from Nvidia was the reason a global update was not possible (the global and U.S. models of the phone use different chips).
• HTC One X+ [UPDATED 2/18/14]: HTC has confirmed it will not update 2012's HTC One X+ phone past its current Android OS level. In mid-February, the company clarified the reasoning, explaining that a lack of support from Nvidia made it impossible to perform a global upgrade.
• Motorola Droid 4: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Verizon-based Droid 4 will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
• Motorola Droid Bionic: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Verizon-based Droid Bionic will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
• Motorola Droid Razr: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Verizon-based Droid Razr (not to be confused with the newer Droid Razr HD) will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
• Motorola Droid Razr Maxx: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Verizon-based Droid Razr Maxx (not to be confused with the newer Droid Razr Maxx HD) will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
• Motorola Electrify 2: According to Motorola's official software support site, the U.S. Cellular-based Electrify 2 will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
• Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition: According to Motorola's official software support site, the Atrix HD Developer Edition will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade -- which is curious, as the regular non-Developer-Edition Atrix HD is slated to receive the upgrade.
Android 4.4 Upgrade List: Why Isn't My Device Listed?
Don't see your device on this page? Don't panic. Manufacturers and carriers will be releasing Android 4.4 upgrade details for months to come. If a phone or tablet isn't on this page, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be upgraded; it just means there isn't much clear info available yet about its fate. (This page is about confirmed and reliable information -- not rumors or speculation -- and so devices are only added when such details are available.)
That said, if your device was released more than two years ago and isn't listed on this page, it's a safe bet that it probably won't get KitKat. For the sake of simplicity, I've eliminated most older devices from the list unless there's a specific and relevant reason to include them.
