Here's a sweet little treat to end your week: The Android Gingerbread statue has officially arrived at Google's Mountain View campus.

The Google Android team posted a video of the Gingerbread man being delivered to his new home Friday afternoon:

The Android Gingerbread man joins statues representing past versions of the Android operating system, including Froyo, Eclair, and Donut. Typically, once a statue's been unveiled, it's only a matter of days until Google gives out details on the actual software upgrade.

Rumors had suggested we might see the full software development kit for Gingerbread sometime this week. While that's looking increasingly unlikely, the fact that the statue has arrived is certainly a promising sign that news is on the way.

So what will Gingerbread do for your phone? The Android team hasn't said a whole lot just yet, but plenty of unofficial tidbits have leaked out over the past weeks. Click over to Android Gingerbread: Everything there is to know for the full scoop.
