This pilot fish has spent months trying to come up with a solution for a fiber line that's overloaded with traffic from just too many users.

"The only solution proved to be to replace it -- an uphill battle over funds in this economy," says fish. "I was successful at justifying and finally getting approval to trench and pull new cable.

"The day we changed the line from 100 Mbit/sec to 1 GB/sec, I confirmed with our clerks their increased speed and functionality.

"After they told me of timing a 'save' with a stopwatch and finding it took 1-1/2 minutes, they tried that save again and found it to be approximately three seconds.

"Immediately one turned to me and said, 'Can you make it faster?'"
