Class of 2010 Yearbook: The Honorees

James A. Fortner
General manager, IT infrastructure and corporate real estate, global business services

Employer: The Procter & Gamble Co.

LOCATION: Cincinnati

Most valuable career advice: "Find your purpose and excel at it. Too often we try to be someone we are not, trying to be everything to everybody. The key message delivered to me was to find what I do well, identify problems only I can resolve, then go after it with 110% energy."

Favorite vice: "I have a weakness for sweets, especially chocolate."

Would you advise young people to pursue an IT career? "Absolutely! IT will continue to play a leadership role in business transformation. IT leaders can have critical competencies in both business process and information systems to drive exceptional results."

If I were not in this business, I would probably be... "teaching and mentoring teenagers and young married couples in their spiritual development."

Passion outside of work: "I have five children ages 6 through 19. I enjoy being a father, mentor and leader in their lives, and I cherish the moments we have together."
