There are multiple levels of Purple Promise awards, the highest of which rewards the chosen individual with cash, a trophy, a lapel pin and recognition at an annual event. Humanitarian awards are given to employees who go above and beyond standard norms of community responsibility to perform acts that promote human welfare. Winners receive a trophy and a lapel pin and are recognized at annual ceremonies. The Five Star Award, the highest honor for salaried and management-level employees, is presented in recognition of outstanding achievements in a fiscal year. Five Star Award recipients receive a plaque and cash. Special for IT: In addition to companywide awards, FedEx IT employees are eligible for IT Hall of Fame Awards. Given quarterly, these awards recognize the work of IT employees and other staffers who collaborate on technology projects. IT employees are honored for taking innovative, creative and unique approaches to developing business systems. Employees of all FedEx operating companies can nominate any FedEx IT employee or team for an IT Hall of Fame Award. Training is tops: A variety of online and classroom training options are available to all employees. Multiple online "universities" offer technical and business courses in a variety of disciplines. The IT group has a flexible training program in which managers meet individually with their employees to create customized development plans that identify training and development opportunities and set goals for each individual.
