This not-for-profit health system in Salt Lake City operates 20 hospitals, as well as home health-care services, an air ambulance service, physicians practices and urgent-care clinics, counseling offices, rehabilitation centers and other health care ventures. Intermountain offers a defined benefit pension plan that can't be beat. At no cost to the individuals, the plan provides former employees with monthly payments or a lump sum payment at termination or retirement, with the amount calculated based on the employee's level of compensation and years of service. Individuals are vested in the plan after five years of employment. The company also offers a number of other benefits, including in-grade pay increases, lump sum bonuses and nonmonetary rewards in recognition of achievements. IT employees can pursue technical training and enroll in online courses offered through Intermountain's corporate university site.
