Philadelphia, Pa. [Middle Atlantic]
Why You Want to Work There
Considering the rising cost of higher education, this perk is a big-ticket item: Employees at this Philadelphia-based university pay no tuition for undergraduate and graduate programs. Spouses receive half off all tuition, and children pay no tuition for up to 10 semesters of undergraduate education. Several IT staffers have recently earned a Ph.D., while others are actively engaged in their own doctoral programs. Many more are pursuing or have completed their master's and bachelor's degrees. A state-of-the-art computer lab and teaching center draws visitors from around the world. Employees also have special access to sporting events featuring some of the highest-ranked teams in the nation. The university also attracts nationally and internationally recognized performers in music, dance and the arts. An $80 million expansion of the business school opened this year, with almost 10% of the funding earmarked for educational technology. A high level of investment has been made in the computer technology required to support future medical education and research at a new medical school that's nearing completion.
