At institutions of higher education, FedEx IT employees are eligible for reimbursement of tuition, enrollment and associated fees, including laboratory, library usage, computer, activity, maintenance and registration fees. Reimbursement is $5,000 per employee per calendar year, provided that grade levels are met. All permanent employees are eligible to take courses under the Educational Assistance Program, beginning on or after the employee's date of hire. FedEx-based technical training opportunities include AJAX, Java, XML and Visual Basic programming. Nontechnical courses include behavioral interviewing, coaching for performance, core team leadership, managing virtual teams and valuing diversity for professionals. Through its Purple Pipeline program, selected managers swap positions with counterparts in different IT disciplines to better understand one another's needs and opportunities.
