The Bellevue, Wash.-based business' community outreach program, Huddle Up, has helped 43,541 children in high-risk and low-income communities get connected with after-school programs. The company encourages employees to volunteer by hosting "work days" and offering an eight-hour, non-vacation day they can use to volunteer for Huddle Up and other programs. In 2008, company volunteers served a total of 18,000 hours through Huddle Up. As part of the Huddle Up program, the company hosted more than 6,000 students from the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas to attend the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge game during the 2008 National Basketball Association's All-Star Weekend. Students qualified to attend by meeting several criteria in school attendance, leadership, community service and reading.
