BAE Systems
McLean, Va. [South Atlantic]
Why You Want to Work There
Putting the right person in the right job is a key goal at this defense market and IT services company. Through its internal Assignments Management Panel, the IT department plans the placement of employees as different projects start and finish, with a goal of reducing the effects of lost productivity and personal career disruption. Operated on a weekly basis, the panel is run by a recruiting committee with mandatory attendance for all directors and senior managers. The panel proactively plans and reviews all existing and future staffing requirements for the company's many lines of business and focuses on placing the best talent possible against each requirement. In 2007, the IT department successfully transferred an average of 50 staff members per month to other positions within the organization.
