Why You Want to Work There
Sun is going green. Through an "open work" program at this computer giant, more than half of employees don't have an assigned office in a fixed location. The company provides the tools and technology that allow them to work wherever they want -- at home, at the office or in a coffee shop near a customer's office. At the end of fiscal 2007, more than 55% of the workforce were working away from the office at least one or two days a week. Sun estimates that its commuter programs have eliminated more than 29,000 tons of CO2 emissions and saved employees hundreds of thousands of hours that otherwise would have been wasted in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
