SAP pushes Sarbanes-Oxley compliance tools
The new software will be available early next year

Looking to aid business compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley financial reporting law, SAP AG is rolling out enhancements to its software that it said will put the needed controls and processes in place.
The business applications vendor announced yesterday that it would beef up the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance tools in its mySAP financials and mySAP ERP products, in partnership with consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Among the new features, said Kraig Haberer, global director of product marketing for mySAP Financials, will be internal control tools to enable companies to support best practices for scoping, assessment, remediation and signing off on corporate numbers. The system will also let CEOs and chief financial officers verify the validity of the internal control processes.
Also coming is a whistleblower feature that enables a user to record an anonymous complaint that will enter a workflow routing system to ensure that it reaches the appropriate personnel. This tool, which enables compliance with Section 301 of the law, can be deployed with employee self-service or manager self-service portal functions.
SAP has also built its auditing tools to pull data and prepare it for reports that cover nonfinancial processes, Haberer said. It will now cover other areas such as purchasing, production and logistics, he said.
The new tools will be generally available in the first quarter next year.
