Flush With Venture Capital, Biotechs Go on a Hiring Spree

New biotechnology companies are being formed almost daily in scientific hot spots such as Boston and San Diego, sending demand for new top management teams soaring.
Life sciences companies have been dominating venture capital fund raising. In the third quarter, health care deals accounted for 32% of the $4.56 billion invested in venture capital, according to the "Quarterly Venture Capital Report" by Ernst & Young International and VentureOne, a unit of Dow Jones & Co., released last week. There were 40 early-stage health care deals, raising a total of $357.9 million.
