Brief: FedEx Kinko's launches Internet-based print options
The service is aimed at mobile professionals and small businesses
August 18, 2004 12:00 PM ETComputerworld -
FedEx Kinko's yesterday launched a Web-based tool called File, Print FedEx Kinko's, which can be used to connect Microsoft Windows users to the company's printing centers nationwide.
The free software, which works from inside Windows desktop programs, allows users to take advantage of FedEx Kinko's services not available on most home or office printers, including single- and double-sided printing, stapling and binding. Prices can be viewed before printing, and users can specify whether they want to pick up their orders or have them shipped via FedEx.
The company is aiming the new service at mobile professionals and small-business owners who want access to the same printing and shipping technologies as larger businesses but don't want to invest in expensive equipment.
The software is compatible with Windows 2000 and XP and uses Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1.
