Facebook users get Dropbox file share option
It allows photos, videos and documents to be shared
Computerworld - Facebook users can use the storage service Dropbox to share content stored in the cloud with Facebook groups, the two companies announced today.
"Now you can share notes with your study group, add the latest game schedule to your basketball team's group, or post a birthday video to your family's group at lightning speed from wherever you are," Dropbox engineer Chris Varenhorst wrote in a blog post.
Facebook users are given an icon on their home page that allows them to link to their Dropbox account, which then opens a window allowing them to search through Dropbox and select what they'd like to share, whether documents, photos or video. To share with a Facebook group, users click 'Add File' on the group's page.
The content on the Facebook wall can also be viewed on a smartphone or tablet.
As with other posts to Facebook Groups, people can like or comment on anything you share within the group. Any edits made to the content within Dropbox, are also updated on Facebook.
