Twitterverse in uproar over Facebook's Instagram buy
Instagram users threaten to delete their accounts
Computerworld - Soon after Facebook announced today that it was buying Instagram, maker of the popular photo-sharing app, for $1 billion, Twitter began to light up with talk about it.
Most Twitter users were saying they are unhappy about the pending purchase. They complained about the move and some threatened to delete their Instagram accounts. Several blogs quickly began posting information on how they could do that.
"How do I delete all my Instagram photos before Facebook gets them?" tweeted @DieLaughing.
News of the acquisition hit when Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a blog about the purchase on the social networking site. The acquisition, which Facebook hopes to finalize by later this quarter, comes just as the social network is preparing for its initial public offering.
But as executives at Facebook and Instragram were likely celebrating the deal, many people in Twitterville were having the opposite reaction.
@MadebyJay tweeted, "Prepare for instagram to be downgraded because of Facebook."
