NoteTab Standard: A Text Editor That Does More
PC World - If you need a text editor that does a great job at coding, you know that Windows' Notepad is pretty much worthless. That's where NoteTab Standard ($20, free 30-day feature-limited demo) comes in. It's an excellent text editor with special features for coders, including some specific for HTML. Unlike Notepad, it can edit multiple files, and shows each file as a separate tab.
Among its HTML tools are a variety of HTML converters, including those that convert text files to HTML and vice versa. It supports UUEncode and UUDecode, and also handles EBDCIC files.
There are plenty of other extras packed in as well, including a variety of converters, such as between Fahrenheit and Celsius, miles and kilometers, and pounds and kilograms. NoteTab Standard has built-in print preview, and customizable menu shortcuts. There's also a convenient sidebar that puts many commands within easy reach. You can select from different sidebars, for example, one for HTML.
NoteTab is available in two other editions: NoteTab Light, which is free but lacks some of NoteTab Standard's more advanced features, and NoteTab Pro, which includes extra features, such as multiple levels of undo.
Note: The spell checker and thesaurus do not work on the trial/demo version of NoteTab Standard. It also loads more slowly than the registered version.
