CA settles copyright suit against Rocket Software
Settlement comes on eve of trial
February 10, 2009 12:00 PM ETIDG News Service - CA Inc. said today that it has settled its $200 million intellectual-property suit against Rocket Software for an undisclosed sum.
CA sued Rocket in 2007, alleging that Rocket secured its intellectual property by hiring away CA programmers and used it to create "many, if not all, of Rocket's software tools for the IBM DB2 relational database management system."
Under the settlement, Rocket admits no wrongdoing but will license source code and a number of trade secrets from CA. No other terms were disclosed.
The settlement comes on the eve of the trial, as jury selection had been set for Monday, according to CA.
In a statement, Rocket said it is "pleased that there will be no business disruption to its customers, and that Rocket and CA have been able to resolve this disagreement."
