Verizon ships XV6800 smart phone for business pros
Device has a QWERTY keyboard, can function as laptop modem
Computerworld - Verizon Wireless announced today that it is shipping the XV6800, a smart phone that is equipped with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and designed primarily for business professionals to use on Verizon's EV-DO network.
The device is available through Verizon business sales and online today for $449.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year wireless agreement. It will appear in Verizon stores Dec. 5.
The handheld is equipped with Windows Mobile 6, which provides Internet and e-mail access. A 2.0-megapixel camera and support for the mobile versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are included.

In addition to EV-DO access, the device includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless. The XV6800 can be used as a modem for laptops that are subscribed to the Broadband Access Connect data service.
It includes a 2.8-inch touch-sensitive display, and is 4.3 by 2.3 by 0.7 inches in size and weighs 5.8 ounces. It features 64MB of memory and a microSD memory slot to support up to 8GB of storage.
The lithium ion battery provides up to 340 hours of standby time with more than five hours of usage time.
