Computerworld - JetBlue Airways Corp. has partnered with Google Maps to allow customers to map the routes of their flights in real time on the plane's seatback televisions.
With Google's mapping technology, "our customers can enjoy a seat with a view -- tracking their flight's altitude, speed and location on the way to their destination," said Brett Muney, manager of product development at JetBlue, in a statement.
Passengers can find the moving map feature, provided by JetBlue's LiveTV, on Channel 13 of the airline's in-seat satellite television system. Customers can also refer others to the JetBlue Web site, where they can track flights live, including the flight's estimated departure and arrival times, using Google's technology online.
In addition, JetBlue said customers can also use the Google Maps feature to track Blue Betty, www.jetblue.com/betty the airline's customized 1992 Airstream RV. JetBlue said it uses the vehicle to bring information about the airline to people across the country.
