Computerworld - Dashboards aren't just for employees inside the company. A Web-based dashboard can be a tool for providing valuable data to customers in the supply chain, too.
Alliance Entertainment Corp. in Coral Springs, Fla., which handles distribution and fulfillment for several large retailers and marketing companies, uses a Web dashboard to give customers, such as Beanstalk Group, visibility into the supply chain, says Richard Goldman, CIO and director of data management at Alliance.
Last year, Alliance deployed Web Intelligence from Business Objects, which allows customers and employees to use the Web as a dashboard interface. "Beanstalk, for example, can get detailed logistics reports for order-tracking," says Goldman. And warehouse managers at Alliance can use it to look at statistics on orders, shipping methods, products, price and inventory.
"Web Intelligence absolutely opened all this information up to a wider audience," says Goldman. "We give this service away for free to our customers as an incentive to stay on, and we hope it will bring new customers into the fold."
